We have one single but powerful vision:
By using rapid prototyping and customer understanding we aim to help you build customer centric online solutions to fulfill your company’s goals.
Backspace Consulting is the brainchild of Kelly Ledger.
"Since I started working in the online industry I have seen many changes and focuses become "the next big thing", but the one aspect of online design that has stood the test of time is a focus on usability. When a website, application or mobile service takes into account the needs and desires of their customers, their solutions outshine their competitors. Good design takes into account the day-to-day requirements of the audience; answering the questions "what do I want?" and "how do I achieve this?" at every stage of the design process. I wanted to create a company focussed on answering these questions so that businesses can get down to doing what they are best at; selling their services or products to a receptive audience. So I suppose you can say that what we help to achieve is the creation of receptive audiences."
We’ve designed our services to be tailored to the requirements of your projects. Strategy review and consultation can be done seperately from any user design work, testing without any prototyping. We would however recommend that you allow us the opportunity to review and build prototypes inline with a view of your strategy – this way we can guarantee stronger results.
Agencies can benefit from using Backspace Consulting in two ways. Firstly by making use of our rapid prototyping product to gain customer buy in, identify gaps left by content and provide a useful "go-to" guide to manage development, especially if development is outsource, in the project is vast. Secondly, testing the service, especially with our lab environment gives customers a sense of safety and sercurity knowing that their product has been validated by real users.

For companies managing their development either internally or making use of outsource partners, our prototyping and testing services can help you visualise your end product more effectively and mobilize your teams to achieve a common and visible end goal. We are a highly agile organisation and can fit in well with SCRUM teams to deliver user-orientated online services with confidence.

Some time in the recent past I read that clicking the backspace key on a keyboard made up for around 40% of online navigation.

Prototyping is a visual representation of the end goal – something for all the stakeholders to cling to and believe in prior to development even beginning.

To some I will be preaching to the converted, but for those of you new to online usability, may I introduce Steve Krug and his vital work Don’t Make Me Think. This pint size book has been my saving grace on many occassion, especially when I face a task of monumental proportion: a website with [...]
